¶ How to Play
- Each space on the board represents the name of a Vine product in the selected category.
- e.g. Kitchen & Dining
- The long product names are converted to key words (per the technical rules below).

- The goal is to reveal as many of the 8 products as you can by matching keywords of four letters or more before making three wrong guesses.
- Consider any word that could match a word in a product name for the category.
- it could be materials (e.g. glass, steel)
- it could be qualities (e.g. warm, soft)
- it could be tech (e.g. wired, remote)
- possibilites are endless, see examples below
Words and partial words that are in the name of the category are not allowed as guesses. (e.g. Neither
homenordecowill be accepted as a guess if the category is "Home Decor".)Words and partial words that contain fewer than 4 letters, numeric digits or special characters are not allowed as guesses.

e.g. "cora" or "tion" can be used as a guess for the word "decorations" if the category is "Seasonal Decor" since "deco" cannot be used.

Your 4-letter word will be checked for a match anywhere among all 8 product names and displayed on the board wherever a match is found.

If your guess has a match, it will be revealed on the board and you will receive the points assigned to that product.
- A guess may match more than one product.
- You will get the points for every product that you initially match.
- Matching a product with a second or subsequent keyword does not award points but does save you from getting a strike.
- You will get the points for every product that you initially match.
- If your guess leaves no unrevealed products on the board, the game ends and you receive a score of 100 points!
- A guess may match more than one product.

If your guess has no matches on the board, you will get a strike. ❌
- If it is your third strike, the game ends and your score is the total you received to that point.

After you finish the game, you will be granted access to the ❌ • vinely-feud • board channel where you can see the results of all players.
- Note that you will get an error trying to access the scoreboard if you haven't yet played the Vinely Feud game of the day.

The product names used in the game are from the Discord database which stores the title of the product from the Amazon listing when it was enrolled in Vine. Sellers frequently update the names in their listings so it's not unusual for the name in the current product listing to not match verbatim the name in the database.
¶ How to Win
- With your guesses, match one or more words in all 8 product names before getting a third strike!
- This awards you a perfect score of 100 points and guarantees your win.
- If no player gets a perfect score, any player with the highest total score wins.
- The number of guesses is not taken into account by any means.
If no player gets a perfect score, the winner(s) of Vinely Feud will not be known until the game ends at midnight PT.
Unless nobody plays, it is not possible for the winner to be nobody🤡 in Vinely Feud.

¶ Technical rules in the code
- Trebek selects a product category at random.
- From that category, eight Vine items shared to discord are chosen randomly.
- For each item, the product title from the original Amazon listing is converted from its long name to key words as follows:
- any numeric digit, punctuation or special character is replaced with a space
- all upper-case letters are changed to lower-case
- any word with fewer than 4 letters is removed
- any word that matches a word in the category name is removed
- certain words from a list of blocked words are removed, including
mans, mens, with, woman, womans, women, womens
- any redundant keywords in the same product name are removed
so that only keywords (including brands) remain in the answers to be matched.

- We did not really survey 100 viners (saying so adds to the effect though, doesn't it?), so the order of the products is actually random.
- 100 points are randomly divided amongst and assigned to each of the "Top 8" products as such:
- the first answer is randomly assigned from 8 to 50 points
- each answer is worth at least 1 point
