A Vine pause is when new items are not actively dropping across any of the three categories. The item count may appear to increase in AI due to old listings coming back, but during a pause there are no new items appearing on the first page (before the cutoff of yesterday’s drops).
Pauses are not officially announced by Vine customer service, but seem to happen when they are updating code on the back end. There is no set timeframe for how long these might last.
A pause can end at any time and will often result in a flood of items dropping in AFA (Available for All) and AI (Additional Items) more quickly than usual, since they have building up in an internal queue for hours. Your RFY (Recommended for you) will also start to repopulate at this time.
During pauses, the moderator team turns off the ability to post new alerts in AI because the majority of items being shared have already been available on the platform for a while. In addition, turning alerts off and then on again gives users a clearer indication of when the pause ends and new items are dropping.
